Celebrates Back to Back Championships in Las Vegas Finale
Las Vegas, NV, October 19, 2008.
After clinching the ASC Racing Unlimited Class Championship last month in California, Team MGR Racing – WOT Performance approached the season finale in Las Vegas much more relaxed than in previous seasons when championship points were still at stake.
Eighteen races at six different race tracks across four Western states sum up a season in which the team captured eight poles, 10 wins and 10 fastest laps making it the most successful season for the Phoenix, AZ based racing outfit.
"Finishing in Las Vegas with one more win is a great exclamation point for our team. This has been a long season for us. We started in Phoenix back in February with our first win and we have now finished in Las Vegas eight months later with our tenth win of the season. It just shows the relentless hard work that MGR Racing and WOT Performance have put forth all season,” said Pete Andreas, the team’s Technical Director.
"Right now, I think both Pete and I are really looking forward to the off season. It's been really hard for both of us to keep up with our race program the last couple of months but we also wanted to win back to back Championships more than anything else! Now we can sit back and take some time off before we start planning out our strategy for next season," added Manuel Gil del Real.
Manuel also plans to spend the off season testing and racing his Shifter Kart in the Phoenix area to stay in “race shape.”
